The purpose of this unit is to develop a sound understanding of the concept of Rural Entrepreneurship and its role in the development of rural business, rural economies and communities.
AIMS:
The aim of the unit is to develop the student’s understanding of rural entrepreneurship and its impact on rural communities, both social and economic, to develop the student’s entrepreneurial capabilities, and to develop the skills required by entrepreneurs operating in a rural context.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of this module the student should be able to:

Outline and explain different conceptions of rural entrepreneurship.

Identify the skills and capabilities implicit in entrepreneurship and assess their relative importance.

Assess the social and economic impact of lack of entrepreneurship on rural communities.

Evaluate the social and economic impact of entrepreneurship on rural communities.

Evaluate strategies and policies for the development of entrepreneurial capabilities.

Design strategies for development of personal skills and capabilities required for entrepreneurship.
