Making Crisps

First the crisps are delivered to the factory from farms contracted to grow crisps for the particular crisps maker - Seabrooks in this case.

Making Crisps at Seabrooks.

Seabrooks take delivery of 5 loads of potatoes each day each carrying a weight of 28 tonnes. Seabrooks make crisps 24 hours a day which is a total of 40,000 bags of crisps each day!

The Process.

The potatoes are first washed before being peeled.

After coming out of the peeler the potatoes are check for 'faults' (hollow centres or green skins) before going into the slicer.

After leaving the slicer the potatoes are rinsed to wash of excess starch which can affect the frying process. Then the sliced crisps are dried before going into the fryer.

Seabrooks crisps are fried in Sun Flower Oil.

Once out of the fryer the flavour is added to the crisps before they are weighed and bagged into individual bags.

These individual bags are then either put into 6 packs of the same flavour or Multi-Flavour Pillow packs.

The packs are then boxed and shipped out to the shops for you to enjoy....
