As the first in a series of theme this theme is based on animals. The above video is meant as an introduction to the theme as a whole and provides opportunities for AfL of pupils knowledge of any pets they may have and animals in general.
The theme look at how we decide if something is alive or dead. It then goes on to look at how we use animals, what animals amy be kept in the local area and how we should look after animals. It concludes by consider human needs as animals.
The Big Picture.

The theme starts by asking:
"How do you know if something is dead or alive?"
Show real or images of tamagotchi & NintenDogs as other examples of pets and way to discuss difference between living & non-living.
Pupils consider what all living things have something in common?
Videos look at some of these things -
we call them life processes (7 in all (MRS GREN) but not all covered at this stage - Respiration & Sensitivity difficult to show without becoming too involved!)
Living things
- Need air and water.
- Can grow in size.
